As the evening of Fashion Heals fast approaches, we took the time to uncover some personal stories of some of the people who will make the night of February 7th, 2018 go down without a hitch. Pruyn Haskins, is the Managing Director at Scotiabank, the platinum sponsor of 2018’s Fashion Heals.
Haskins shared with us what supporting SickKids Hospital through Fashion Heals means to him:
“When I think of SickKids, I remember my first Christmas with my newborn twins. My wife and I rushed to SickKids on Christmas Eve with two very sick boys. We were treated quickly by staff and spent the night at the hospital, each in a chair beside our children. I remember the friendly staff that had presents for each child, and the firemen who arrived with stuffed animals. We were overcome with a strong sense of community, and struck by how caring everyone was. We realized that day that SickKids is a very special institution and we’ve been supporters of the hospital every year since then. I am currently a member of the Campaign Cabinet and fortunate to volunteer my time to a hospital that provides young people with the treatments they need to live long and fulfilling lives. Supporting organizations like SickKids is an investment in the community. Young people are our future scholars, citizens and leaders.”
“At Scotiabank, supporting SickKids not only helps kids heal from illnesses, but also helps children get closer to achieving their dreams, something that Scotiabank is deeply committed to. We aim to support organizations that are committed to helping young people reach their infinite potential. The money raised by Fashion Heals directly supports The Innovation Grant for Pediatric Cancer Care and Research for SickKids. Cancer has touched all of us in one way or another and we are proud to be part of this event.”
“Fashion is a form of self-expression. It’s a way for all of us to feel our best throughout the ups and downs of life. That’s what makes Fashion Heals so great, while the night is about supporting the serious topic of pediatric cancer care and research, it is also about enjoying and celebrating self-expression.”
